Who would ever think to ban a book?

Telling me a book is banned is like telling a toddler not to touch something.  The first thing I am going to do is stick my pudgy little finger out, even if for just a second, to get even the tiniest bit closer to it.

Today while performing one of my favorite activities, playing around on Pinterest, I discovered a list of 40 banned books, and since "Banned Book Week" begins tomorrow I thought why not share this list with everyone.  Let's break some rules people!
Once I looked over the list, I thought to myself "Why ban a book? What could a book possibly have done to make you hate it so much you want to prevent others from reading it?  Are you just jealous that J.K. Rowling is now a billionaire, because she created a teenage wizard?"  Then being the rebel that I am (I guess that is only funny if you know me and know that I won't even cross the street when that little red hand is up.) I counted all the books on the list that I have read throughout my lifetime.  I was shocked to find that I had only read 15 out of 40!  BUT, I am happy to say that most of those 40 were recommended to me by my dear old Mom.  Way to go, Mom!  Way to be a bad ass!
Now I want to Google why some of these books are so horrible.  How is searching for Waldo anything other than a time consuming activity on rainy days?  Most of these books were written so that people would think.  Heaven forbid, THINKING!  I don't know about the rest of you, but I don't want to be a mindless drone.  Books were created to allow people to escape from their lives and find adventures all across time and space.  With a book you can travel back through history or discover what the world will be like 1,000 years in the future.  You can have a world wind  romance with the most amazing man in the world or start a rebellion to assert your feminism.   Books are the worlds greatest form of escapism, so check out this list.  See what trouble you can get in to!  40 Banned Books by HPB.com
